DIY feng shui – your house’s inauspicious locations (bazhai)

Feng shui is not just about enhancing the auspicious stars. To get the maximum returns from your property (home, office or land) you need to understand the inauspicious stars as well. I call it defensive feng shui. In this post, you will know how to find the four inauspicious locations (rooms) in your home and office. Have a pen, notebook, transparent printing sheet, compass and your floor plan ready.

In one of my earlier post’s, I had written about how to take your house facing measurement. Today we will use your house facing direction to find the four inauspicious locations of your home or office. If you have read my post on auspicious locations and have 8 divisions marked on your floor plan then you can skip this section.

How to find the inauspicious rooms on your floor plan?

  • Find the center of your house on your floor plan. Take the full length and breadth of your house. Let me give you an example from one of my consultation files; in the floor plan given below the length of the house is 77 feet and breadth 37 feet. From its dimensions, it’s clear that it is a rectangular shaped house. You have to divide the length and the breadth by 2. From the example, half of the full length will be 38.5 feet similarly half of breadth will be 18.5 feet.

Floor plan

  • Stand in the center of your house. From the center face straight towards your house facing direction and take the compass measurement. For e.g. in the diagram given below the house faces 2 degrees north.

  • Now you will have to divide your floor plan. To make it easy I am providing the 24 directions with the 8 divisions below. Just take a print out of the 8 divisions on a transparent sheet and adjust the degrees with your main door. If you prefer doing it on your own then the eight directions will be divided as given below.

1 North (352.5 – 37.5 degrees)
Northeast (37.5 – 82.5 degrees)
3  East (82.5 – 127.5 degrees)
Southeast (127.5 – 172.5 degrees)
South (172.5 – 217.5 degrees)
Southwest (217.5 – 262.5 degrees)
West (262.5 – 307.5 degrees)
Northwest (307.5 – 352.5 degrees)

What do the four inauspicious locations mean?

Jue Ming > – inauspicious location 1

Jue Ming > means exhausted fate – you will be sapped of all your energy; leaving you exhausted. Nothing will work out and you will face obstacles in all your endeavors.

In this room, you will suffer from financial hassles, worst case scenario you could go bankrupt. Occupants of this room could suffer from difficult to diagnose health issues. Using the jue ming >  room could lead to accidents; loss of children; disharmony leading to the family break ups; loss in business and self-destructive tendencies. Expecting mothers, babies, elders of the home, recuperating patients should not use this room. If possible none of the family members should use this room. ^

Liu Sha ; – inauspicious loaction 2

Liu Sha ; means six evils or six killings. Don’t get scared by the translation; it basically means six different kinds of misfortunes that will befall you if you use the liu sha ; room.

This room brings forth lawsuits and relationship problems. Extra-marital affairs, loss of money, promiscuity, health problems and arguments are a few of the problems you could face while using this room. Your family and business will suffer. There is a possibility of untimely death. ^

Wu Gui : – inauspicious location 3

Wu Gui means five ghosts. It doesn’t mean you will see ghosts! It just means five dreadful events in your life.

Is there disharmony amongst your family members? It is possible that you are using the wu gui : room.  This room represents total disharmony, lots of bickering amongst family members and disloyalty. Recklessness; backstabbing; project failures; fire disasters; unhealthy competitiveness; always running into losses; are the ill effects of using the wu gui : room. You could face employee retention problems and there is a possibility of robberies. ^

Ho Hai _  – inauspicious location 4

Ho Hai _ means injury. You could suffer from emotional and physical pain. Unexpected problems may crop up.

Using the Ho Hai room brings forth hassles, loss of work and loss of money. You might be always running into obstacles and nothing ever runs smoothly. Your will-power will be affected and you will lack motivation. The impact of all problems and losses in this room is less compared to the ones listed above. ^

Knowing your house’s auspicious and inauspicious locations is just tip of the iceberg. Many of you will find that you are using an auspicious room but inauspicious personal direction or vice versa. Due to space constraints, you might be unable to change rooms or your desk/bed position. In my next post, I will write about how to blend auspicious personal directions with auspicious house locations

Don’t loose all the hard work you have done today. Keep your 8 divisions transparent sheet and your floor plan handy. You will need this till the last post of the DIY feng shui series.
